The graduation ceremony for Warsaw Community Schools took place on Friday, May 29th outdoors on the football field. There would be a little over 500 students recognized during the two hour ceremony.
Melayna needed to be at the school to get into line and to get ready to walk out at 6:00 so we dropped her off and then we found places to sit in the stands until the ceremony began at 7:00. While we waited, they had a slideshow going on that showed pictures of every one of the seniors.
While we sat outdoors and entertained ourselves in random ways...
... Melayna was inside of the gym taking pictures and living her best life with all of her friends!
Finally... right at 7:00, we saw the first of the graduates beginning to make their way to the field.
In this picture, Melayna is the fourth one from the left of the frame. She is wearing gold shoes and has two tassels.
She is graduating Summa Cumme Laude, National Honor Society, a regular high school diploma, a technical school diploma, and top 5% of her class.
After a series of speeches from the Class President, the School Principal and the Superintendent of the Schools, the students were then called up one by one as they were called across the stage and received their diplomas.
Melayna is walking up the ramp and her name will be called next...
And then... Congratulations to Melayna Grace Howett on a job well done!
You are now officially a high school graduate.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026

We had made arrangements with Melayna about where we would meet her after the ceremony so before she came over to meet us, she took a couple more pictures and congratulated many of her friends. She has many, many more pictures on her phone, but here were a couple that she sent to us.
And then she was finally coming over to us and it was our turn to give her hugs. She just kept smiling and saying "That was so much fun. I want to do that again!"
