IWU VS Bethel VS Anderson // IWU Swimming

Marissa had her last regular swimming meet of her sophomore season this past Saturday against Bethel University and Anderson University.  It was hosted by Bethel, which is a college about an hour away from us so we were super excited that we would be able to travel north to watch her compete and to see her for the first time in almost a month.

(And many thanks to Jon and Clarice for taking the time to come to the meet and to cheer for her as well.  I know that it meant a lot to her and we are so thankful!)

It's Meet Day!!  Yay!  It's Meet Day!!

The meet would begin at 1:00 and Marissa was scheduled to swim in the 400 medley relay, the 200 individual freestyle, the 100 individual freestyle, and the 200 freestyle relay.

I only took pictures during her first event as I figured everything after that would all look the same anyway.  So just look at these pictures and imagine the same thing about three more times.  LOL

Marissa would start off the meet in the very first event where she would be swimming anchor for the 400 Medley "C" Relay.  That means she would be swimming the freestyle portion of the event.

She is the swimmer standing and facing us in the stands....

...and then her other relay teammates joined her behind the blocks.

And then as they continued to stay loose while waiting for the start of the race, she is the one on the left with her back to us.  (And all of the cupping marks on her back)

And then the race finally began and she took her place at the back.

And then finally she was up on the blocks and waiting her turn to dive in.

400 Medley Relay     57.75 split     4th place
200 Freestyle     2:06.01     4th place
100 Freestyle     57.21     3rd place
200 Freestyle Relay     27.05 split     2nd place

When the meet ended, we made our way downstairs where we could wait for Marissa to come out of the locker rooms and then we had about 15 glorious minutes to see her and to hug her before she had to load up on the bus and to head back to campus again.

Congratulations Marissa.  I am always thankful for the opportunities to watch you swim and I cannot wait to see you again in two weeks at your conference championship!!
