Graduation Celebrations // 2026 Honors Day

On the evening of Friday, May 1st, I had the privilege of attending Morgan's Honor Day Celebration at the Trine University Athletic and Recreation Center.  It was a ceremony lasting about 90 minutes where Morgan and others would be receiving academic awards in anticipation of their college graduation which would take place the next day.

Since I knew that Morgan was still trying to pack and to get all of her things home permanently, I volunteered to come up a bit earlier on Friday so that I could help her pack up the rest of her dorm and get the larger items loaded into the van.  I arrived around 2:30 in the afternoon and we immediately started taking the larger pieces apart or moving them right to the back of the van.  We were able to get quite a few things moved before she needed to get ready for the recognition ceremony and then we were able to pack a few more things when we got back.  I also had the blessing of helping her straighten her hair after she was dressed - and I admit, I may have taken a little more time than necessary to do that because I was just enjoying some sweet time with my "little" girl.  I know that it's just hair, but wow, it took me back to those sweet days so long ago when Morgan would bring her little princess hairbrush to me and ask me to braid her hair or to just sit and comb it while we watched cartoons together. Where have those days gone?!  She has just grown up into a beautiful, smart, and strong young woman right before our eyes.
(Insert tears and sniffles)

Anyway, later that night, as part of the Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences, Morgan would be recognized for graduating Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.0 and she would also receive the Gold Key for being on the President's List all six semesters of her attendance.

And then I took a video of her walking across the stage to share with Noel since he had to be at a track meet with the girls' team and wasn't able to come with me.

After the ceremony, Morgan and I went back to her dorm so that she could change and then we planned to go grab some dinner together before I had to head back home.  It was such a sweet moment however, when she walked back into her dorm room and two of her roommates and their boyfriends were there.  They saw her and immediately started cheering for her and telling her how beautiful she looked and they wanted to see her awards and to hear how it went.  (She really has the sweetest friends and roomies this year and I have been so thankful for that).  We invited all of them to join us for dinner and Emmaline and Wyatt decided to come along.  We had a fun time laughing together and I enjoyed hearing the girls share memories of their college days together.

I asked Morgan where she wanted to eat - she could have chosen anywhere - she chose Culver's.  LOL  So after a couple of kids' meals at Culvers, I dropped her back off at her dorm so she could finish her two remaining assignments before midnight and I took the first load of her things back home.  The entire family would be back bright and early the next day for her graduation ceremony.

Since I have taken a short trip down memory lane already, I will post two more pictures here on this post.  These two pictures were taken on Morgan's first day of college over three years ago.  We were all a bit anxious and sad when we dropped her off, but also excited and hopeful of all of the things that would happen in the those next three years.  God has been so faithful to us all and we are so very thankful!

You place your hand of blessing on my head" ~ Psalm 139:5
